As a Certified Diabetes Educator, Brenda has supported those affected by diabetes for almost 25 years. She helps clients understand how food affects their diagnosis while teaching prevention and self-management strategies. If you are newly diagnosed and trying to sift through the enormous amounts of information you are getting from friends, family and the internet; Brenda will help you come up with a plan that is easy to understand and fits your lifestyle. You learn about your condition, how food affects blood sugar, best timing of meals and snacks, how much to eat,  and how medications work while reviewing current lab work.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Will insurance cover my visit? At this time, only Medicare is accepted. However, many insurance providers do reimburse for nutrition services with the invoice provided. Brenda can also submit a claim for you as a courtesy. Payment is required at time of visit.

  2. How long will appointments last? Initial consultations are 75 minutes with follow-up visits lasting 30 minutes, sometimes extended to 45 minutes.

  3. What will be discussed? During an initial consult Brenda will review medical history, labs (if applicable), assess current eating habits/food choices/preferences, provide education, suggest resources, and set goals together with the client. A sample menu and written materials will be given. During follow-up visits Brenda will review blood sugars (if applicable), food logs, and progress as a whole towards better health.
